Supported by The Columbus Beacon of Hope Foundation, The Largest Table serves nearly 200 meals every week of the year in St. John's Fellowship Hall, engaging 20 or more volunteers weekly. These volunteers include not only St. John's church members, but also neighborhood groups, local restaurants, community schools, other churches, and charitable organizations.
The Largest Table has created deep relationships among our homeless and marginally housed guests, our volunteers, and local civic leaders, educating our community about the plight of the homeless and hungry in Downtown Columbus, Ohio.
This has resulted in a transformative community that changes lives, one meal at a time.

The Columbus Beacon of Hope Foundation is a beacon of hope in the heart of the city, where we envision a day when sharing by all will mean scarcity for none. |
Impact of the PandemicLike many organizations, our feeding ministries have been challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to comply with state health orders, The Largest Table transitioned to an outdoor "to go" meal model. We partner with other faith organizations and community members so we might continue to provide meals to homeless, hungry, and vulnerable during this extraordinary time in our history.
The Columbus Beacon of Hope Foundation has provided funds for necessary food and supplies, kitchen renovations, and personal protective equipment for both our hungry neighbors and those serving them. |
HistoryThe Columbus Beacon of Hope Foundation launched in 2020 as a fundraising organization benefiting The Largest Table feeding program at St. John's United Church of Christ.
The Largest Table began as a small ministry of St. John's in 1998, originally serving 30 meals each week to hungry and homeless people of Downtown Columbus. For more than two decades, The Largest Table has provided those on the margins with a warm welcome, a hot meal, and a community to call their own. The Largest Table is now one of St. John's most significant missions of outreach and service. |
